ABOUT HCHC

A Different Kind of Learning Community.

HCHC blends the freedom of homeschooling with structure, support, hands-on enrichment, personalized tutors, and built-in community.

OUR HISTORY AND MISSION

From Park Playdates to a Statewide Network.

Before there was a school, there were park benches, picnic tables, and a handful of mothers searching for community.

HCHC began in Howard County with a few homeschool moms meeting at local parks. While the children played, the mothers talked, shared ideas, and enjoyed being around families who understood both the joy and the daily work of homeschooling.

At the center of that growing vision was founder Rayna Remondini, a dedicated homeschool mother with more than 13 years of experience educating her own children. Her journey expanded from teaching at home to organizing meetups, building co-ops and microschool programs, writing Homeschool Nation: Uncharted Territory, and offering articles, workshops, and guidance to help other parents feel informed, supported, and confident.

What began as informal park meetups slowly took root. The small circle grew into an in-person co-op serving hundreds of local Maryland families, creating a place where children can learn together, build friendships, and experience the kind of community that often begins around a shared table.

Today, HCHC reaches families across Maryland by connecting them with experienced tutors and providing MSDE-certified umbrella services. Although the organization has grown, its purpose remains grounded in those early gatherings: to offer homeschool families structure, confidence, and support without losing the freedom, warmth, and personal connection that inspired it.
